How do I fix my skipping cursor?
I have a dell XPS notebook, when I type the cursor skips back and inserts itself in another position interrupting my typing. I can move the cursor out of the way when typing, which will prevent it from messing with my already typed material, but then the cursor selects something else. My warranty has expired and I can’t afford to extend it. Someone please help!

1.Have you noticed the cursor skipping after installing a new program? Open the Control panel and look for recently installed programs or additions to your internet toolbar. Internet add ons affect not only internet browser texts but somehow affect your desktop programs as well. Uninstall any new programs, restart your computer and check to see if the problem is resolved.
2.Run Adaware from lavasoft.com & cleanup if any trojans are there.
3.Check your touch pads sensitivity. On Windows Vista, go to Control Panel>Mouse>Tapping and set the Touch Sensitivity in the low range.
4.Disable the touch pad. Step by step instructions vary for each system. Search in your system’s help section for detailed information on how to disable the touch pad. This however, is a temporary fix.
5.uninstall & reinstall the touchpad driver from your dell XPS drivers disc.
Uninstalling the generic driver and reinstalling your computer manufacturer’s touch pad driver.

Hello Esrev
Yes, it is irritating to keep cating the pad, but if you look in your list of Zip Files you’ll find a file called Alps Touchpad. It has a Zip Number: R198139. Or you can find Driver Robot on the Net.
Unload that to your hard-drive. Close Down and reopen. Find your Mouse in and turn it on.
That’s the best I can tell you. Others on can explain it perhaps a bit better.
Good luck.and get back to me if problems.
Alan
